US President Donald Trump on Tuesday revealed more information about a major missile defense project. The plan, named the “Golden Dome,” has a budget of $175 billion, according to reports.
General Guetlein to Lead the Project
First, Trump announced that the design for the new system is complete. He confirmed that General Michael Guetlein, Vice Chief of Space Operations, will lead the project.
System Will Work With Current Defenses
Next, Trump explained how the Golden Dome will connect with existing missile defense systems. He added that the system will be fully ready in three years. This means it will be completed before the end of his possible second term.

Moreover, Trump said the plan fulfills a key campaign promise. “In the campaign I promised the American people I would build a cutting-edge missile defense shield,” Trump said at the White House. “Today I am pleased to announce we have officially selected architecture for this state-of-the-art system.”
