Trump Taps Musk to Build $5M Gold Card Portal for Fast-Track US Citizenship

Trump Gold Card Citizenship is more than a proposal. US President Donald Trump has delegated the task of creating a new immigration system to Elon Musk’s Doge department. The scheme proposes a $5 million “gold card” that provides wealthy foreign investors with a quicker route to American citizenship.

Trump intends this card to take the place of the EB-5 investor visa program. Doge engineers Marko Elez and Edward Coristine have already started working on designing the new online system.

They will work to process requests and approve residency in two weeks. Trump’s staff claims that the new card will provide the privileges of the green card along with a streamlined path to citizenship.

Donald Trump’s Gold Card concept

In February, Trump made a daring change in US immigration policy. He recommended that the EB-5 investor visa be replaced with a so-called “gold card.” The new offer provides an opportunity for high-net-worth individuals to purchase expedited entry to US citizenship for $5 million.

Trump asserted, “We are going to be selling a gold card.” He further stated that the new card would confer green card benefits and offer a new, premium path to American citizenship.

Musk and DOGE take charge

Trump tasked the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) with spearheading the rollout. Elon Musk, Doge’s leader, is currently collaborating with the State Department, Department of Homeland Security, and US Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Collectively, these organizations are constructing the framework of the program. Doge engineers have already started constructing the website for gold card submissions.

How the system will function?

The portal will enable foreign investors to directly submit an application for the gold card. Doge engineers are endeavoring to accelerate normal immigration processes.

This also involves quicker background checks and interviews. The aim is to provide residency within two weeks. The system will be separate from standard visa channels and eliminate red tape.

New era in Immigration?

Trump’s action is a sign of something bigger. The US can now treat citizenship as a luxury commodity. While the EB-5 program tied investment to the creation of jobs, the gold card just assigns a cost to privilege.

Critics can point out this is a two-tier system. But Trump’s advisors claim it will bring desirable investment into America.

Citizenship as a Commodity

This proposal makes American citizenship a commodity to sell. Although the proposal is aimed at rich foreigners, it gives rise to some severe concerns. Is nationality to be put on sale? Can money now circumvent conventional checks and balances?

The gold card plan may set a precedent. If successful, other nations might follow. Citizenship could become a new global product—one sold to the highest bidder.
