Trump Showers Musk with Praise on His Final Day as DOGE Head

On his final day in the Trump administration, Elon Musk received high praise from President Donald Trump. Trump shared his admiration for Musk on TruthSocial, announcing a press conference with the Tesla CEO on Thursday at 1:30 PM (local time).

Trump’s Support for Musk

Trump called Musk “terrific” in his post, stating that even though Musk’s time as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) was ending, he would remain close to the White House. Trump wrote, “I am having a Press Conference tomorrow at 1:30 P.M. EST, with Elon Musk, at the Oval Office. This will be his last day, but not really, because he will always be with us, helping all the way. Elon is terrific! See you tomorrow at the White House.”

Musk’s Government Role and Achievements

Musk’s term as a “special government employee” officially ended on May 30. He had served as DOGE head since January, and under his leadership, the department saved $175 million. These savings came from asset sales, contract cancellations, and fraud payment crackdowns. However, some critics question the validity of these claims.

Criticism from Democrats

Musk’s role sparked sharp criticism from Democrats in Congress. Rep. Melanie Stansbury called his influence “reckless and illegal,” accusing Trump of letting a billionaire “answer to no one.” Rep. Jasmine Crockett also warned that Musk was acting as an “unelected official” in the executive branch.

Musk’s Focus Shifts Back to Private Sector

As Musk returns to his private ventures, Tesla’s stock rose by 4.2% this week. During a recent investor call, Musk reassured shareholders. He said, “Starting in June, I’ll be allocating far more time to Tesla and SpaceX now that the groundwork at DOGE is in place.”
