Trump Raises China Tariff to 125%, Imposes 90-Day Pause and 10% Reciprocal Tariff Cut

Washington, D.C. –  In a strong statement aimed at addressing what he called China’s “lack of respect” for global trade markets, Donald Trump has announced an immediate increase in tariffs on Chinese imports, raising the rate to 125%.

Trump’s post, shared via his official social media account, emphasized that the days of “ripping off the USA and other countries” are over. He said the new tariff measure is meant to force China to realize that such actions are “no longer sustainable or acceptable.”

“Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately,” Trump declared.

Global Talks Underway

Trump also acknowledged that over 75 countries have reached out to the United States, requesting negotiations on trade-related topics such as:

  • Tariffs
  • Trade Barriers
  • Currency Manipulation
  • Non-Monetary Tariffs

These discussions are being handled by the U.S. Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the USTR (United States Trade Representative).

Temporary Relief: 90-Day Pause

As a gesture of goodwill and recognizing global cooperation, Trump announced a 90-day pause on further trade actions. Additionally, he authorized a 10% reduction in reciprocal tariffs during this period, effective immediately.

“These countries have not retaliated in any way, shape, or form… I have authorized a 90-day PAUSE and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period,” he said.

What This Means

  • The tariff hike may strain U.S.-China trade ties further.
  • A 90-day window could allow space for diplomatic negotiations.
  • The temporary reciprocal tariff cut could be a signal of potential compromise.

Trump’s statement closes with a note of urgency and finality:

“Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

This development is expected to impact global trade dynamics significantly in the days to come.
