US President Donald Trump delivered a fiery address at the US Military Academy at West Point on Saturday, using the commencement ceremony to make sharp political points and reaffirm his military priorities.
Speaking to a graduating class of 1,002 cadets at Michie Stadium, Trump claimed that Russia stole hypersonic missile technology from the United States during the Obama administration.
“Eight cadets here today took on the challenge of designing their own hypersonic rocket. We are building them right now. We had ours stolen. We are the designers of it. We had it stolen during the Obama administration,” Trump declared. “The Russians stole it, something bad happened. But we’re now building them, lots of them.”

Says He Rebuilt ‘Most Powerful Army’
Wearing his iconic red “Make America Great Again” cap, Donald Trump told cadets they were becoming officers of the world’s most powerful army, one he claimed to have rebuilt during his first term.
“You’ll become officers of the greatest and most powerful army the world has ever known. And I know, because I rebuilt that army. We rebuilt it like nobody has ever rebuilt it before in my first term,” he said.
Trump described the U.S. as the “hottest country in the world” and emphasized that his vision for the military centers on “crushing America’s adversaries, killing America’s enemies and defending our great American flag like it has never been defended before.”
Takes Aim at Biden-Era Military Programs
Trump also used the stage to attack certain Pentagon policies under the Biden administration, particularly criticizing diversity and inclusion efforts.
“The job of the US Armed Forces is not to host drag shows or transform foreign cultures,” he remarked, referencing events on military bases that had drawn criticism from conservatives and were later canceled.
He added that the armed forces should steer clear of “nation-building crusades to nations that wanted nothing to do with us” and promised to remove programs such as critical race theory and gender identity training, which he labeled as political distractions.
“We’re getting rid of distractions and focusing our military on its core mission,” Trump said.
