Trump Accuses Trudeau of Using Tariffs to Stay in Power

Washington DC, US: Former US President Donald Trump has alleged that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is using the tariff dispute between the US and Canada as a political tool to secure another term in office.

Trump made these claims on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating that Trudeau has largely caused the issue himself and is now attempting to use it to his advantage.

Trump Blames Trudeau for Tariff Conflict

In his post, Trump remarked:

“Believe it or not, despite the terrible job he’s done for Canada, I think that Justin Trudeau is using the Tariff problem, which he has largely caused, in order to run again for Prime Minister. So much fun to watch!”

The US recently imposed a 25% tariff on Canadian imports, citing Trudeau’s alleged failure to curb the influx of the synthetic drug fentanyl into the United States. In response, Canada imposed retaliatory tariffs on US goods.

Trump Calls Trudeau ‘Governor of Canada’

On Wednesday, Trump referred to Trudeau as the “Governor of Canada” and mentioned that the Canadian leader had called him to discuss the tariff situation.

“Justin Trudeau called me to ask what could be done about Tariffs. I told him that many people have died from fentanyl coming through Canada and Mexico, and nothing has convinced me that it has stopped. He said that it’s gotten better, but I said, ‘That’s not good enough.'”

According to Trump, the call ended on a “somewhat friendly manner,” but he found it odd that Trudeau was unable to tell him when the Canadian election would take place.

Trump Criticizes Canada’s Border Policies

Trump also blamed Trudeau’s border policies for the increase in fentanyl and illegal immigration into the US.

“I also told Governor Justin Trudeau that he largely caused the problems with his weak border policies, allowing fentanyl and illegal aliens to pour into the United States. These policies are responsible for the deaths of many people!”

The ongoing tariff dispute and border security issues have intensified tensions between the two leaders, with Trump suggesting that Trudeau is using the situation for political survival.
