New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has come under fire after admitting to sheltering an undocumented immigrant in his home. Former ICE chief Tom Homan, known for his strict stance on border enforcement, has called Murphy’s actions “foolish” and hinted at potential legal consequences.

Homan’s Reaction: A Threat of Legal Action

During an appearance on Fox News, Homan did not hold back his criticism of Murphy’s statement.

“It’s a foolish thing what he said because I got note of it, won’t let it go, will look into it,” Homan stated.

The former ICE chief warned that if Murphy is deliberately hiding an illegal immigrant, legal action will be taken. “Maybe he’s bluffing. If he’s not, we’ll deal with that,” Homan added.

What Did Murphy Say?

Governor Murphy recently suggested that he and his wife, Tammy, are providing shelter to someone with unresolved immigration status.

“I don’t want to get into too much detail, but there’s someone in our broader universe that… their immigration status is not yet to the point that they’re trying to get it to,” Murphy said.

He further revealed that the individual is living in a space above their garage and sarcastically wished “good luck” to federal agents trying to locate her. However, it remains unclear whether Murphy was referring to a personal property or the governor’s official residence in Trenton.

Public Outrage: Calls for Murphy’s Arrest

Murphy’s comments triggered backlash after a video of his statement surfaced online. Many netizens took to social media, demanding his removal from office and even calling for his arrest.

  • One critic stated: “I hope they come to your house.”
  • Another wrote: “This is sick. What is wrong with you?”
  • A third person commented: “I hope ICE goes after this guy hook, line, and sinker. He has no place in government.”

With the Biden administration facing pressure over immigration policies and Trump’s mass deportation plan gaining traction, Murphy’s remarks have only added fuel to the already heated debate.
