Earlier this month, burglars broke into Olivier Giroud’s Los Angeles home. The former Arsenal and Chelsea striker recently moved to LA after joining Los Angeles FC. Shockingly, the thieves stole jewelry worth $500,000, including ten luxury watches.
Family Was Not Home
According to reports, Giroud and his family were away when the burglary happened. The intruders smashed a window to enter the house. Later, on February 5, Giroud’s wife discovered the broken window and immediately reported the break-in.
Police Investigation Continues
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the incident to TMZ. Although officers are investigating, no arrests have been made so far. Additionally, LAFC spokesperson Seth Burton verified the burglary but declined to provide further details.
Other Athletes Also Targeted
Interestingly, Giroud is not the only athlete facing such incidents. Recently, NFL quarterback Joe Burrow, NBA guard Ty Jerome, and NFL cornerback Antonio Hamilton also became burglary victims. In some cases, thieves struck while the athletes were playing on national television.
Giroud’s Football Achievements
Despite this unfortunate event, Giroud remains focused on his career. The French star has played for top clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Milan. So far, he has scored 285 goals in 716 matches. Notably, he won several major trophies, including the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021. Now, as France’s all-time top scorer, he aims to make his mark in MLS.
