Disturbing footage has surfaced showing a near-collision at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The video captures a moment when an air traffic controller urgently shouts “stop, stop, stop” to prevent a jet from colliding with an Airbus taking off.
The Incident
In the clip, a Key Lime Air jet is rolling as a Delta Airlines flight takes off from runway 24L. The air traffic controller’s frantic call can be heard, warning the private jet to stop. The video was shared by the Airline Videos page on X, along with the caption: “‘STOP STOP STOP!’ LAX ATC urgently called out to a Key Lime Air jet as a Delta jet took off from runway 24L. Was this a runway incursion? All captured live during Friday’s Airline Videos Live broadcast.”
A plane-spotter who posted the footage said, “In the years I’ve been doing this, I’ve never heard an ATC controller tell a plane to ‘Stop, stop, stop.’” The spotter added that the jet continued rolling once the runway was clear.
FAA Statement
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the incident. They explained that air traffic controllers told Key Lime Air Flight 563 to hold short of crossing a runway because another plane was taking off. When the jet moved toward the runway, controllers instructed the pilots to stop. Thankfully, the jet never crossed the runway edge.
Investigation Underway
The FAA has launched an investigation into the incident.
