Philadelphia Jet Crash: Terrifying Video Captures Fireball Lighting Up the Sky

A small medevac jet crashed into a Philadelphia neighborhood Friday evening, Jan. 31, killing six people, including a pediatric patient and her mother. Horrific dashcam and doorbell footage from the scene captured the moment the jet, which had just taken off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, went down in a fiery explosion.

Philadelphia Jet Crash Happens Shortly After Takeoff

The jet had taken off and had headed toward Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri when the aircraft crashed shortly at about 6:30 pm, immediately after take-off. Domingo Colon was moving out of their Northeast Philadelphia house in the community. Ring camera shot a breathtaking and dreadful video in the minute seconds it captured behind the rows of townhouses just as it exploded into flames shooting high through the sky. It was so loud that it overwhelmed the microphone of the Ring Camera when the intense explosion happened.

“We heard a noise and turned around to watch it. The aircraft disappeared behind the townhouses, and then we saw the fireball,” Colon said. They were able to rush inside just in time as the flames swept through the place.

Dashcam Captures the Chaos

It caught the dramatic moment on his dashcam as a motorist driving along Roosevelt Boulevard. Approaching a red light, Andro saw the sky light up with the fiery wreckage of the jet in a parking lot nearby. “Holy s–t, oh my God, is this on video?” Andro blurted as the smoke and fire from the crash became visible between the trees and houses.

Casualties and Victims Identified

The jet had crashed three miles from Northeast Philadelphia Airport. Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that all six passengers aboard were Mexican nationals. The victims included a young girl who had received “life-saving treatment” in the U.S. and was returning home to Mexico. Shai Gold, spokesman for Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, shared an emotional tribute saying, “She fought quite a lot to survive, and unfortunately this tragedy on the way home.”

Investigators are still investigating the causes of this particular crash, but the families will be crying due to this loss.
