Speaking at the US-Saudi Investment Forum, US President Donald Trump claimed that his administration successfully brokered a historic ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He emphasized his desire to be seen as a peacemaker and a unifier rather than a supporter of war.

“My greatest hope is to be a peacemaker and to be a unifier. I do not like war,” Trump said during his address.

Trump highlights trade as the key

Trump revealed that trade played a major role in his strategy to ease tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. He shared, “Just days ago, my administration successfully brokered a historic ceasefire to stop the escalating violence between India and Pakistan. I used trade to a large extent. I said let’s make a deal, let’s do some trading. Let’s not trade nuclear missiles, let’s trade the things you make so beautifully.”

No official confirmation yet

While Trump has made such claims, there has been no official confirmation from either the Indian or Pakistani governments regarding a ceasefire mediated by the United States. However, his remarks have sparked renewed interest in diplomatic efforts to ease cross-border tensions.
