Pakistan Railways Halts Train Services To Quetta Following Deadly Blast

Pakistan Railways has temporarily halted train operations to and from Quetta station, following an explosion that resulted in 26 fatalities and 62 injuries. According to ARY News, the suspension will last from November 11 to 14 to ensure passenger safety.

A railway spokesperson confirmed that Quetta railway station will be out of service from November 11 to November 14. The Bolan Mail will resume its route from Karachi to Quetta on November 16, and it will depart back to Karachi from Quetta on November 18, as reported by ARY News. Meanwhile, the Jaffar Express will leave from Peshawar to Quetta on November 14, with its return scheduled for November 15.

The explosion occurred as the Jaffar Express was preparing to depart, with a significant number of passengers at the station, police noted. Railway authorities mentioned that both the Chaman Passenger and the Jaffar Express were scheduled to depart from Quetta to Chaman and Peshawar, respectively, and passengers for both trains were on the platform at the time of the blast.

Following the incident, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif demanded an investigation report, declaring, “Terrorists will pay a heavy price for their heinous act.” Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi highlighted that the terrorists’ goal is to destabilize Pakistan, stating, “The nation will foil their designs.” Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also condemned the attack, saying, “We are backing all steps to get rid of the terrorists and their facilitators,” adding that those who target innocent civilians deserve no leniency.
