Washington – Former US President Donald Trump on Monday expressed strong disapproval of Russia’s continued bombing campaign in Ukraine, calling it a “horrible thing” and saying he is “not happy” with the ongoing violence.

“They’re bombing like crazy right now,” Trump told reporters at the White House, referring to Russia’s recent airstrikes. “It’s not a good situation.”

Despite ongoing peace efforts and meetings involving the US, Russia, and Ukraine, the violence has shown no signs of slowing down. Trump acknowledged that negotiations are “sort of close” but criticized the escalation of attacks over the past week.

Truce Talks Continue, But Bombing Persists

Trump’s comments came just hours after the Kremlin expressed support for a possible truce, though Moscow insisted there were still many “questions” about how any ceasefire would work. Meanwhile, Russian airstrikes on Ukrainian targets have continued without pause.

“We’re meeting with Russia, we’re meeting with Ukraine,” Trump said. “But I don’t like the bombing. I don’t like what’s happening.”

Trump Previously Called Out Putin Over War

Back in March, Trump had said he was “pissed off” with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and again over the weekend he reiterated, “We’d like them to stop.”

Trump has promised to bring peace to Ukraine within 24 hours if re-elected in 2025, but Russia has rejected a full ceasefire, turning down a joint US-Ukraine proposal in March.

Three Years Into War, No End in Sight

The Russia-Ukraine war has entered its third year, with devastating effects on both sides and little progress on a lasting peace deal. Despite diplomatic efforts, the violence and suffering continue.

As the international community pushes for a resolution, Trump’s latest remarks signal increased pressure on Moscow to halt its aggression.
