Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a warm and informal meeting with US Vice President JD Vance and his family on Tuesday in Paris.
During the meeting, Modi welcomed Vance’s Indian-American wife, Usha Vance, and their two children. The Indian leader later shared photos of the meeting on social media, which he called a “wonderful” exchange.
“We went on to have a lovely detailed discussion on different topics, including a token to celebrate the birthday of their darling son, Vivek,” Modi wrote on X.

Vice President Vance appreciated the meeting and the thoughtful gifts that Modi had given his children.
“Prime Minister Modi was generous and kind, and our kids loved the gifts. I thank him for the wonderful conversation,” Vance commented in a social media post.
Modi presented Vance’s daughter, Mirabel Rose Vance, with a handmade wooden alphabet set as a special gift. The set of 56 letters includes a four-color stamping pad and aims to teach young kids to start spelling and sentence structuring.
The meeting between Modi and the Vance family was held during the Indian leader’s tour to France for talks of a diplomatic nature. There was less formality to the meeting, but it poetically sets the bars for the growing friendship between India and the United States and their respective leaders.
Such an informal meeting follows a string of meetings between Indian and American officials toward strategic and economic cooperation. Modi’s visit was yet another high-level diplomatic meeting that further solidified India’s global alliances.
