Kamala Harris Highlights Love for Gen Z and Discusses Future Leadership

At a town hall event in Malvern, Pennsylvania, on October 21, Vice President Kamala Harris expressed her admiration for Generation Z. The event, moderated by Sarah Longwell, featured a discussion about Harris’s vision for the future and her leadership plans.

New Generation of Leadership

When Longwell asked Harris about her plans for the future, Harris responded with a sense of optimism. “You want a preview?” she asked, explaining that her vision includes leading a new generation and not simply continuing the Biden administration. “I bring to it my own ideas and experiences. But it is also about moving past what I think has been the last decade of the American discourse being influenced by Donald Trump,” Harris added, hinting at a fresh approach to leadership.

Criticism of Trump’s Presidency

Harris criticized former President Donald Trump, accusing him of using his time in office to “demean and divide” the country. Her remarks emphasized the need to move beyond the polarizing effects of Trump’s presidency in order to focus on unity and progress.

College Degrees for Federal Jobs

In addition to discussing leadership, Harris suggested changes to federal hiring practices, proposing that certain jobs should not require college degrees. She advocated for recognizing skilled workers who might have gained expertise through apprenticeships or other non-traditional education paths. “Let’s look at which of those jobs would benefit from a skilled, experienced worker who perhaps went through an apprenticeship program, not a four-year college,” Harris explained, underscoring the importance of expanding job opportunities for a wider range of individuals.
