JD Vance Urges Pakistan to Help India After Pahalgam Terror Attack

US Vice President JD Vance has asked Pakistan to support India in finding and punishing terrorists hiding on its soil. His comments came after a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that killed 26 people, mostly tourists.

Vance Calls for Caution and Cooperation

Vance spoke on Fox News after the attack. He said the US hopes India stays calm and avoids a wider conflict.

“Our hope here is that India responds to this terrorist attack in a way that doesn’t lead to a broader regional conflict,” he said on the show Special Report with Bret Baier.

He also said, “And we hope, frankly, that Pakistan, to the extent that they’re responsible, cooperates with India to ensure that the terrorists sometimes operating from their territory are hunted down and dealt with.”

Vance and his family were visiting India when the attack happened. It was the worst attack in the region since the 2019 Pulwama bombing.

US Secretary Rubio Talks to Indian and Pakistani Leaders

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made urgent phone calls after the attack. He first spoke with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Then he called Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar.

During the call, Jaishankar told Rubio that the attackers must face justice. He stressed the need to punish those responsible.

US Urges Both Sides to Stay Calm

The US asked India and Pakistan to reduce tensions. It also promised to work with India to fight terrorism. The Pahalgam attack killed 26 people, including a Nepali national. Many others were injured. The Resistance Front (TRF), a group tied to Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack.
