JD Vance Begins Diplomatic Mission to India, Focused on Strategic Ties

JD Vance, Vice President of the United States, begins his first official visit to India, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties with Prime Minister Modi.

JD Vance Begins Diplomatic Mission to India, Focused on Strategic Ties

JD Vance, the Vice President of the United States, has started his first official trip to India. He left Rome Ciampino Airport with his family, heading to India for a visit from April 21 to April 24.

Arrival in New Delhi

Vance boarded Air Force Two (AF2) on Sunday night. The plane is scheduled to arrive at Air Force Station, Palam, in New Delhi at 9:30 am IST on Monday. Upon arrival, he will be formally welcomed at 10:00 a.m.

Meeting with Prime Minister Modi

Later that day, at 6:30 p.m., Vance will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Modi’s official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. This meeting will mark an important step in strengthening ties between the two nations.

A Family Moment Before Departure

Before boarding AF2, Vance shared a touching moment with his family. He was seen gently lifting his sleeping daughter, Mirabel, from their car. Meanwhile, his sons, Ewan and Vivek, excitedly waved toy swords as they boarded alongside Second Lady Usha Vance.

Tour of India

Following the meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Vance will head to Jaipur on Tuesday. Then, on April 23, he will visit Agra. His trip will conclude when he departs India at 6:40 a.m. on Thursday, April 24.

Preparations in New Delhi

In anticipation of his arrival, hoardings welcoming JD Vance have been placed around the diplomatic area of Chanakyapuri in New Delhi, as well as near Palam Airport.

Strengthening India-US Relations

Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), highlighted the importance of the visit. He said, “This is an Official Visit. He will be meeting the Prime Minister. And with the United States of America, we have a Comprehensive Strategic Global Partnership. So, when you have that level of partnership with any country, obviously you will discuss all relevant issues.”

Jaiswal also emphasized, “With America, our relationship is such that we are doing anything that is part of human endeavor… forms part of our bilateral engagement. All these issues will be discussed. We are very positive that the visit will give a further boost to our bilateral ties.”
