Is Khaby Lame Really Arrested by ICE? Social Media Claims Spark Controversy

On Saturday, social media exploded with rumours that the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had arrested global TikTok sensation Khaby Lame. Bo Boudon, a social media influencer and friend of Barron Trump, sparked the claim by posting a screenshot suggesting that ICE detained Lame for overstaying an “invalid visa.”

“President Trump’s ICE just officially arrested far-left TikToker, Khaby Lame, whom I reported as an illegal alien. According to the official DHS website, he’s currently being held at the Henderson Detention Center and is in ICE CUSTODY,” Boudon wrote on X (formerly Twitter). He added, “I discovered he was an illegal who overstayed an invalid VISA, evaded taxes, and I personally took action to have him deported.”

Reality Check: No Evidence of Khaby’s Detention

No credible evidence confirms that ICE has arrested or detained Khaby Lame, despite the viral nature of the claim. Lame, who gained Italian citizenship in 2022, resides in Italy and not the United States, making any ICE custody claim highly unlikely.

Neither the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) nor ICE has released a public statement supporting the allegations. Additionally, Lame’s management team has not issued a response.

Who Is Khaby Lame?

Khaby Lame captivates audiences with his silent, expressive TikTok videos that cleverly poke fun at overly complicated “life hacks.” As a result, he became the most-followed creator on TikTok by 2025 and has earned numerous accolades. For instance, Fortune listed him in the 40 Under 40 and Forbes included him in the 30 Under 30 in 2022.

Furthermore, in 2024, he made it to Forbes’ Top 10 Content Creators list. Most recently, Lame became a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and subsequently visited his native Senegal to support children’s welfare.

Until now, there is no verifiable information supporting his alleged arrest, making the circulating claims appear to be misinformation.
