An Israeli volunteer rescue service reported on Sunday that more than 60 people were injured in a drone strike south of Haifa. This attack was claimed by Hezbollah, a militant group at war with Israel.
Hezbollah launched a squadron of drones targeting an Israeli military training camp in Binyamina, south of Haifa. This was reportedly in retaliation for recent Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon. United Hatzalah, the Israeli volunteer rescue service, said they assisted over 60 individuals with injuries ranging from mild to critical.
The incident followed two days after air raid sirens sounded in central Israel, as drones from Lebanon entered Israeli airspace. One building was damaged north of Tel Aviv during this event. Hezbollah has been firing rockets and drones into Israel for over a year, but tensions have heightened since late September, with attacks reaching further into Israeli territory.
Israel’s advanced air defence systems, including the Iron Dome, have successfully intercepted many of the incoming projectiles. However, this recent strike has caused significant injuries, marking a serious escalation in the ongoing conflict.
