Eminem Sues Meta for 9 Million Over Copyright Infringement

Eminem, the best-selling rapper of all time, has taken legal action against Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. He filed a copyright infringement lawsuit on May 30 through his publishing company, Eight Mile Style. He’s asking for over $109 million in damages, claiming Meta used 243 of his songs without permission.

Details About The Lawsuit

According to reports, Meta allegedly allowed its users to upload, store, and use Eminem’s music in their posts and videos without getting licenses or giving proper credit. The lawsuit says that this unauthorised use caused financial loss and hurt the value of Eminem’s music catalogue. The rapper is requesting $150,000 in damages for each of the 243 songs involved in the case.

This legal move adds to the ongoing conversation about how tech platforms handle copyrighted music. Many artists and rights holders have raised concerns that social media companies benefit from music content without fairly compensating the creators.

Eminem Becomes A Grandfather

While the lawsuit has grabbed headlines, Eminem is also celebrating a big moment in his personal life, he’s now a grandfather. His daughter, Hailie Jade Scott, recently gave birth to a baby boy. Hailie welcomed her son with husband Evan McClintock on March 14. They named the child Elliot Marshall McClintock, using her father Eminem’s first name(Marshall) as the baby’s middle name.

Hailie shared the news on Instagram, posting a photo of the newborn lying next to a small board displaying his name and birth date. “Happy due date // 3 weeks earthside little one,” she captioned the heartwarming picture.

Eminem has been known to be open to his fans about his personal life and has expressed his love for his daughter Hailie through multiple of his songs. Even in his latest album,’ The Death Of Slim Shady’, he released a music video for the song Temporary, which included clips of Hailie growing up. The video ends with a scene where Hailie tells her father she’s pregnant, a moment which is now eternalised through his discography.

So, while Eminem deals with a major lawsuit, he’s also entering an exciting new chapter as a proud granddad.
