Elon Musk Updates X Bio to “White House Tech Support,” Clarifies No DOGE Role

The change in the profile bio of Elon Musk on X (formerly known on Twitter) now reads “White House Tech Support.” This comes amid his increasing engagement with the reorganization of the United States Digital Service (USDS), which has been renamed the United States DOGE Service (USDS). The rebranding is part of efforts to modernize the computer systems within the US government.

Over the last year or so, several variations of Musk’s X biology have emerged. By 2024, he had changed it to “CTO” (Chief Troll Officer), which mirrors his frequently naughty memes and posts on the platform. Musk’s revised biography now appears to highlight his part in the government’s technology-centered efforts.

DOGE Hopes to Transform Public Performance

In January 2025, the White House revealed after President Trump’s inauguration the US Digital Service would be renamed the DOGE Service. The objective of this action was to modernize government computer systems and remove agency-wide inefficiencies. Confirming the name change, Musk stressed that the DOGE Service would function to “deconstruct government bureaucracy, reduce excessive rules, cut wasteful spending, and reorganize federal agencies.”

Musk and Trump have argued that such changes could save the US government up to $2 trillion; thus, the DOGE Service’s mission is viewed as vital for Trump’s “Save America” movement. Many professionals, however, have reservations about the viability of these savings, saying that reaching such a large cut would call for great cuts in social services and benefits—something that could be politically contentious.

New Position of Elon Musk and West Wing Office Gossip

Some find Musk’s connection to the DOGE Service startling. Musk made headlines earlier in the week, on February 2, with a tweet stating, “DOGE is working 120 hours a week,” which set off a lot of social media buzz. Furthermore, there were reports Musk was visiting the Washington, D.C. DOGE headquarters. and even thinking about an office in West Wing of Oval Office. President Trump rather promptly cleared up that Musk does not have an office in the West Wing.

“Trump replied to a question about Musk’s office during a January 25 press briefing by stating, “No, not – it is not Elon’s office.” Trump clarified that another office had been established expressly to guarantee that executive orders are promptly and effectively executed, with around 20 staff members in it.

As DOGE Service keeps changing governmental operations, it remains to be seen how Musk’s participation and rebranding initiatives will affect the performance of the US government and the service’s future.
