Elon Musk Slams Trump’s ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ Over Deficit Concerns

Elon Musk has taken direct aim at President Donald Trump’s proposed legislation, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, criticizing its content and the lawmakers who backed it. The Tesla CEO voiced his outrage on X, calling the bill “a disgusting abomination” filled with excessive government spending.

Musk’s criticism comes just days after he reportedly distanced himself from involvement with the administration. Speaking in an earlier interview, Musk said he was “disappointed” with the bill, citing its adverse impact on the national deficit and its contradiction to the work of the “DOGE team” – referring to broader fiscal responsibility efforts.

Musk Warns of Skyrocketing Deficit

In a scathing post on X, Musk wrote, “I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong.”

In a follow-up post, he warned that the legislation would drive the federal deficit to a staggering $2.5 trillion and burden American taxpayers with unsustainable debt levels.

What Is the One Big Beautiful Bill Act?

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act is Trump’s latest effort to lock in his America First economic agenda. A key part of the bill seeks to make permanent the tax cuts introduced through his 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

According to the White House, the bill promises the largest mandatory spending cuts ever and aims to eliminate taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security benefits for seniors. It also includes provisions to roll back Biden’s EV mandates, cut off Medicaid access for undocumented immigrants, and cancel funding for gender transition procedures for minors.

Bill’s Support and Current Status

The bill passed the House of Representatives in late May and is now awaiting review in the Senate. Trump, on Truth Social, called it a historic step toward budget balance, lower taxes, and energy independence.

However, Musk and other critics argue that the bill is fiscally irresponsible and overly politicized. His comments have sparked fresh debate around government spending priorities and the long-term impact of major tax and spending reforms.
