The CBS network will submit the full transcript of its October interview with Vice President Kamala Harris to the Federal Communications Commission after former President Donald Trump filed a $10 million lawsuit against the network. Trump claimed that CBS had biased the network against him by editing the interview to favor Harris.
Trump’s lawyers are said to be negotiating with Paramount, CBS’ parent company, for a possible settlement. The lawsuit arose from inconsistencies between the version that aired on ‘Face the Nation’ on October 6 and the one on ’60 Minutes’ on October 7. CBS said both versions of Harris’ answer were part of her full response, edited for time.
Led by Trump appointee Chairman Brendan Carr, the FCC has ordered CBS to tender the full transcript and camera feeds as part of an investigation into the controversy. CBS has maintained that the case has no merit and is ready to defend itself against it.
Donald Trump lost the election, but he has found grounds to stand against CBS in law. It’s not the first time for Donald Trump to settle with the media houses. Meta recently agreed to $25 million to settle a case over the suspension of Donald Trump on Facebook for instigating riots on Capitol Hill on January 6th.
