A cargo plane en route from Leipzig, Germany, has crashed near Vilnius Airport in Lithuania, an airport spokesperson confirmed to CNN on Monday.
Emergency services, including Vilnius Airport’s Fire Service, are actively responding to the crash, which occurred around 5:30 a.m. local time (10:00 p.m. ET) near Zirniu Street, south of the capital.
The ongoing rescue operations have caused delays for some departures, though the airport has confirmed that scheduled flights are continuing to take off.
Reuters identified the aircraft as a DHL cargo plane, but details about casualties or the cause of the crash have not yet been confirmed.
This is a developing story, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
