Amid escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, British Airways announced it will suspend flights to and from Tel Aviv until March 2025. The airline aims to provide certainty to customers, offering full refunds. This decision follows numerous flight cancellations, including Wizz Air’s suspension until January 15 and Delta Airlines extending cancellations through March.
Amid the rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, British Airways on Monday announced that flight operations to and from Tel Aviv will remain suspended till March 2025.
“This will give greater certainty to our customers who we’re contacting to advise them of their options, including a full refund,” The Times of Israel cited a spokesperson for British Airways saying in an emailed statement.
The announcement follows the series of flight cancellations amid the ongoing war. Earlier, Low-cost airline Wizz Air had cancelled all flights to and from Israel until January 15, while Delta Airlines has extended its cancellation of all routes to Israel through at least the end of March.
The cancellation of flights saw a jump in recent months when Israel launched an offensive against the Hezbollah outfit in Lebanon.
On Monday afternoon, the airport briefly suspended take-offs and landings at the request of Israel’s security forces. The halt lasted less than 30 minutes, and once operations resumed, the IDF reported that helicopters and fighter jets had intercepted and shot down five drones over the Mediterranean Sea.
