Dutch police have arrested three individuals in connection with an explosion that claimed six lives and injured four in The Hague. The explosion, which occurred on Saturday, caused an apartment building to collapse, severely damaging several neighboring structures in a residential area.
A criminal investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blast. Authorities arrested the three suspects late on Monday but have not yet released further information regarding their involvement. Several cars were seized during the investigation, though it’s unclear if any were linked to a car seen speeding away from the scene just before the explosion occurred.
Rescue operations were paused on Monday afternoon after the discovery of a sixth body in the rubble. Gas grid company Stedin confirmed there was no indication of a gas leak as the cause of the blast. Police have also ruled out the possibility of a drugs lab being involved in the incident.
