Protests in India Over Atrocities Against Hindus in Bangladesh

Hindu groups in India protested against the violence faced by minorities in Bangladesh on Saturday. The protesters raised slogans like “Hosh main aao, hosh main aao” and held banners reading “Save Bangladeshi Hindus” and “Stop Atrocities on Hindus.”

One protester expressed deep concern about the violence. He highlighted the killings, rapes, and attacks on temples in Bangladesh. He then called on both the Indian government and the United Nations to intervene.
“The whole world is watching the atrocities on the Hindus in Bangladesh. Hindus are being killed, raped and our temples are being attacked…We demand the UN, Indian government and Human Rights organisations to intervene in this matter…” he told ANI.

Akhada Parishad Urges Action

Meanwhile, Mahant Ravindra Puri, President of Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad (ABAP), also condemned the violence in Bangladesh. He urged the Indian government to take immediate action.
“When we see the scenario of Bangladesh, we feel sad. Two days ago several saints came to me and said that we should take out a procession, but I said that this is not possible right now. So soon we will organise a meeting and will request the Home Minister to interfere in the matter of Bangladesh and take some action as soon as possible. The law and order there is in a worse condition. The Indian government should immediately intervene in the matter and take some action,” he said.

He also mentioned that news of minority women being sexually assaulted had greatly disturbed the members of Akhada Parishad.

Diplomatic Efforts Amid Tensions

Furthermore, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is scheduled to visit Bangladesh on December 9. During his visit, he will meet with his Bangladeshi counterpart and attend various meetings, as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

This visit comes at a time of increasing tensions between India and Bangladesh. Reports of attacks on minorities, especially Hindus, under the interim government of Muhammad Yunus have heightened the strain between the two nations.
