Pakistan ATC Issues Arrest Warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM in GHQ Attack Case

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and other top PTI leaders in connection with the General Headquarters (GHQ) attack case. The warrants target 25 individuals, including Shehryar Afridi, Zain Qureshi, Shibli Faraz, Tahir Sadiq, Malik Taimoor Masood, and Kanwal Shauzab.

Court Orders Arrest and Presentation by December 10

Judge Amjad Ali Shah signed the arrest warrants, directing the Rawalpindi Police (CPO) to arrest the accused and present them in court by December 10. The court’s decision aims to hold those responsible for their alleged involvement in the GHQ attack.

Imran Khan and PTI Leaders Indicted

On December 5, the ATC indicted Imran Khan and 60 other PTI leaders in the GHQ attack case. Following this, police arrested four PTI leaders, including Omar Ayub, Raja Basharat, and Malik Ahmad Chatta. Meanwhile, others, such as Zulfi Bukhari, Murad Saeed, and Shehbaz Gill, have been declared proclaimed offenders.

Imran Khan’s Arrest Sparks Nationwide Protests

Imran Khan was arrested on May 9 during a hearing for a corruption case. His arrest triggered widespread protests across Pakistan. PTI supporters attacked military and civil installations, including the GHQ and the Mianwali airbase. Protestors set vehicles on fire, blocked roads, and clashed with police. Over 5,000 people were arrested and charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).

Government Accuses Imran Khan

The federal government has accused Imran Khan of masterminding the attacks. It claims to have evidence linking him to the violence.
