British MP Bob Blackman has denounced the recent terror strike in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir strongly. The attack resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, the majority of them tourists. Bob Blackman welcomed India’s quick response in the form of Operation Sindoor, in which nine terror camps were hit with precision air-strikes.
He also called for the UK government under PM Keir Starmer to take strong action against terror camps operating in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). His statement raised international focus on Pakistan’s patronage of terror organizations such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and its offshoot, The Resistance Front, which owned responsibility for the Pahalgam attack.

Condemning a Vicious Terror Strike
Bob Blackman had previously decried the Pahalgam attack as a brutal and coordinated attack. Addressing the House of Commons, he underscored that terrorists targeted Hindu and Christian men specifically. He cautioned that such targeted attacks warrant immediate international intervention.
He advocated global action to dismantle terror networks based in PoK, terming them as a threat to peace in the entire region of South Asia.
Welcoming India’s Operation Sindoor
Shortly after the attack, India began Operation Sindoor. The operation struck nine terror camps that are suspected to be connected with Pakistan-sponsored militants. Bob Blackman welcomed this bold action.
He mentioned that India’s reaction was full of strength and urgency. Furthermore, he asked the UK Foreign Secretary to encourage initiatives that aim to close these terror camps in PoK.
UK’s Official Stand
In response, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy described the attack as “horrific.” Lammy confirmed that the UK is with India and remains in touch with both countries to combat terrorism.
The UK Foreign Secretary urged long-term collaboration to provide peace. But he also indicated that the two countries require assistance to deal with these threats effectively.
Raising Political Alarms
Blackman’s outburst singled out Pakistan’s role in supporting terror outfits. His comments followed when India and Pakistan are both involved in peace negotiations.
He made it very clear that peace efforts will fail if terror infrastructure in PoK is not dismantled. He called upon the UK to support efforts in eradicating these threats so that negotiations can proceed in a meaningful way.
Time for Global Resolve
The attack in Pahalgam revealed the intense terror threat in the region. Blackman’s robust message is a reflection of the increasing calls for global action. He thinks the UK needs to stand with India. The world can only hope to end terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir if they do that.
The way to achieve long-term peace is by shutting down terror camps and blocking fund flow to the groups in PoK.
