MARINE EDGE Unveils Innovation At COP29, Cuts Ship Emissions

MARINE EDGE, an innovative climate-tech startup based in Haifa, Israel, is making headlines for its groundbreaking technology aimed at reducing carbon emissions in the shipping industry. Presenting at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, the company demonstrated its machine learning-based regenerative power management mechanism, capable of reducing fuel consumption in cargo ships by up to 15%.

Co-founder and Executive Chairman Amichay Gross described the event as a resounding success:

“The global enthusiasm for MARINE EDGE was incredible, with support coming from countries like Turkey and Egypt, showcasing a shared commitment to innovation and sustainability.”

Tackling a Global Challenge

Cargo shipping is a significant contributor to global carbon emissions, with over 80,000 merchant ships emitting more than a billion tons of CO2 annually. MARINE EDGE’s technology offers a transformative solution, reducing both environmental impact and operational costs for shipping companies.

Gross explained:

“Even a 10% reduction in emissions would mean saving over 100 million tons of CO2 yearly. That’s a substantial impact on the global carbon footprint.”

How the Technology Works

The core innovation lies in a machine learning-powered system designed to optimize energy usage on cargo ships. The mechanism adjusts power management dynamically, ensuring fuel efficiency without compromising performance.

This cutting-edge solution aligns with MARINE EDGE’s vision of merging advanced technology with sustainable practices to address urgent environmental concerns.

A Highlight at COP29

MARINE EDGE was one of 20 Israeli companies selected to showcase its innovations at COP29, reflecting the country’s leadership in climate-tech advancements. Attendees, including representatives from diverse nations, expressed strong interest in the technology.

Gross shared his optimism:

“The world is ready to embrace solutions that drive sustainability. MARINE EDGE is proud to lead this change.”

A Sustainable Future for Shipping

With its potential to significantly reduce emissions and fuel costs, MARINE EDGE’s technology sets a new standard for sustainability in the maritime industry. The company’s participation at COP29 underscores its role in shaping a greener future for global shipping.

This innovation demonstrates that technological progress and environmental stewardship can go hand in hand, offering hope for a more sustainable world.
