Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan filed his nomination for the Sambalpur constituency in Odisha on Thursday.
Before filing his nomination on Thursday, Pradhan visited the Maa Samaleswari temple to seek blessings from the deities.

Before his nomination, Pradhan orchestrated an extravagant roadshow. A large crowd of BJP supporters lined the streets of Sambalpur, displaying banners and placards, and extending their best wishes to Pradhan.

“I heartily thank my family members in Sambalpur for showing their confidence in me by participating in large numbers in the road show organized for my nomination from the Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat. The blessings of Mahaprabhu Jagannath and Maa Samlei and the affection of all of you are my greatest strength,” Pradhan said in a post on ‘X’.

Before filing his nomination, the Union Minister expressed confidence in the BJP’s victory, predicting that the party would secure all 21 Lok Sabha seats in the state during an interview with the media.

Rajya Sabha MP Pradhan is contesting against Nagendra Pradhan from the Congress party and Pranab Prakash Das from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

After a gap of 15 years, Pradhan will once again enter the electoral fray in the Sambalpur constituency this year. The elections for this constituency are scheduled for May 25th.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Nitesh Ganga Deb from the BJP emerged victorious over Nalini Kanta Pradhan of the BJD, securing a margin of 9,162 votes.

Starting from May 13, the state will conduct its Assembly and Lok Sabha elections simultaneously in four phases. The remaining seats will go to polls on May 20, May 25, and June 1.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) emerged as the dominant party in the state, winning the majority of seats. The BJP secured eight seats, securing the second position, while the Congress managed to secure only one seat, trailing behind both the BJD and the BJP.

Vote counting for all phases will occur on June 4th.
