According to investigators, the facility was reportedly operated by absconding drug dealer Salim Dola and his son Taher, while the chemicals required for production were supplied by an associate based in Surat.
As the investigation expanded, police found that the Sangli lab was linked to a much wider trafficking network. They learned that the drugs were transported in high-end vehicles like Mercedes and BMWs to avoid raising suspicion, and the profits were sent abroad through hawala channels.
This network began to emerge after a Nagpada resident was arrested in August 2022, leading officers to more suspects and eventually to the large-scale drug factory busted in March 2024.
