The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended its free online document upload service for Aadhaar updates through the myAadhaar portal until June 14, 2025. This move aims to assist millions of Aadhaar holders across the country in updating essential details such as their address, mobile number, and other personal information at no cost.
UIDAI announced this extension on the social media platform ‘X,’ stating, “#UIDAI extends free online document upload facility till 14th June 2025 to benefit millions of Aadhaar Number Holders. This free service is available only on the #myAadhaar portal. UIDAI has been encouraging people to keep documents updated in their #Aadhaar.”
This decision ensures that individuals can make updates without incurring any extra charges. After the deadline, offline updates at Aadhaar centers will attract a fee. The UIDAI has urged citizens, especially those who received their Aadhaar cards over a decade ago, to update their details. While updating Aadhaar is not mandatory, it is crucial for ensuring seamless access to government services and benefits.
Aadhaar, linked to an individual’s biometrics, is vital in preventing fraudulent identities and duplicates, thereby improving the efficiency and transparency of various government schemes. With this extension, UIDAI seeks to encourage residents to keep their Aadhaar information current, helping to strengthen India’s digital infrastructure and welfare programs.
