Anandiben Patel, the governor of Uttar Pradesh, will open a two-day gathering of health ministers in Varanasi on Saturday to celebrate “Universal Health Coverage Day 2022.”

In the presence of Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Patel will open the conclave.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, will attend the conclave on the second day with the subject “Build the world we want: A healthy future for everyone,” according to a release from the Union Health Ministry.

Various state health ministers will be present at the occasion. 900 community health officers or Health and Wellness Center in-charges and medical officers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Uttarakhand, as well as national experts and development and implementing partners supporting the rollout of Ayushman Bharat – Health and Wellness Centers (AB-HWCs), will also attend the conclave as state officials, including ACSs and principal secretaries (health), National Health Mission directors, and the Director of Health.

The goal of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is to ensure that everyone has access to the necessary preventive, curative, and rehabilitative healthcare services and that these services are of a high enough standard to be effective. In 2017, the United Nations formally declared December 12 as “International Universal Health Coverage Day.”

“Build the World We Want: A Healthy Future for All” is the subject of UHC Day, which emphasises the role and significance of health coverage in creating a healthy future for everyone. Additionally, improving healthcare service delivery and focusing on universal health coverage are two of the G20 health track’s top priorities.

Three ministerial sessions on the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PMJAY) and the 15th FC grants for health, disease elimination (TB, Kala Azar, Lymphatic Filariasis, Malaria, Leprosy, and TB), and the distribution of PMJAY cards will be held as part of the UHC conclave.

At the opening ceremony, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will also introduce operational instructions for AB-HWCs, STele-MANA, training modules for CHOs, and the SASHAKT portal.

The best-performing states and UTs will also be honoured by the Union Health Minister.

The following themes will be used to determine this year’s best-performing states and UTs:

Operationalization of HWCs in accordance with plan, Teleconsultation, ABHA ID generation, and seeding of various health portals.
