Hyderabad: The Telangana government claims that Covid-19 cases in the state will start reducing from October, but the ground realities present a different story. State’s Health Minister Etela Rajender has now confirmed that two persons who had initially recovered from Covid, were found infected again. With no signs of respite, the state recorded 3,018 positive cases on Wednesday and around 2,000 cases are being reported every day. A total of 1,11,688 corona cases and re-infections have now rung the danger bells in the state. Telangana’s Health Minister in a press conference said, “Only two cases of re-infections have been reported. There is no guarantee that there won’t be re-infection. In case antibodies are not sufficient to fight against coronavirus, then there are chances of the virus infecting again.” Dr G. Srinivas Rao, director of public health of Telangana, however, said that the re-infected patients are asymptomatic and are not that much serious. In these cases, the re-infection was reported in one and a half to two months difference in both the instances. The government of Telangana has appealed that people not to be panic with this news and has attributed the increasing numbers to aggressive testing. The cases of re-infections which were seen in China are now becoming evident in Telangana also. These cases have been seen in medical staff of private hospitals. Meanwhile, another shocking news came from the state when a pension distributor at a small village in Wanaparthy district of Telangana became a super-spreader of coronavirus. In Chinnambavi zone, 102 coronavirus positive cases have been registered within a span of 10 days. It was detected that about 10 days ago, a postman from the district headquarters arrived at the village to distribute pension among the villagers, from where the infection started. Firstly, the beneficiaries whom he contacted were tested positive, followed by their primary contacts. Attacking the Telangana government for the rising Covid cases in the state, Congress leader Guduru Narayana Reddy criticised the state’s chief minister for not taking enough steps to curb it. He suggested the Chief Minister to concentrate on Covid-19 instead of constructing the state secretariat, investment summit or flyovers.
