Two Army jawans sustained injuries during an encounter with terrorists in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The operation was launched by security forces following intelligence inputs about a terrorist hideout in the area.
The gunfight erupted during a house-to-house search in Chintibandi village, where the terrorists were believed to be hiding. As the forces closed in, an exchange of fire ensued, resulting in injuries to the jawans.
Simultaneously, police confirmed that contact had been established between terrorists and security forces earlier in the Renji forest area, leading to intensified operations.
Helicopters have been deployed to provide aerial support to the ongoing security operations, which are currently underway.
The injured jawans have been evacuated for medical treatment while the operation against the terrorists continues. This incident highlights the persistent challenges faced by security forces in countering terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Searches are still going on in the extended area
