Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has sent a legal notice to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, alleging the dissemination of misleading and defamatory content.
The matter revolves around a 19-second video clip from an interview conducted by India Today Group’s Lallantop with Gadkari. Congress leaders are accused of sharing this video out of context to tarnish Gadkari’s reputation.
In the video, Gadkari discusses the challenges faced by the poor, farmers, and villagers. He highlights the unhappiness among these groups due to issues like inadequate infrastructure in villages, lack of drinking water, substandard hospitals, and poor-quality schools.
However, the shared video by Congress omits the segment where Gadkari addresses the problem of rural-urban migration and excludes his remarks about the NDA government’s efforts to enhance the lives of villagers, the poor, laborers, and farmers.
The legal notice accuses Congress leaders of intentionally concealing the context of Gadkari’s interview to create confusion, sensationalize the issue, and harm the Union Minister’s reputation. It asserts that sharing the clipped video aims to sow discord within the party.
The notice demands the removal of the posts from the microblogging site within 24 hours and requires a written apology to Gadkari within three days. Failure to comply will prompt Gadkari to pursue civil and criminal actions against the Congress leaders.
