The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) reached a critical milestone today with the TBM Breakthrough of Sudarshan 4.4 at Vaishali retrieving shaft, Ghaziabad, in a significant advance towards delivering speedier regional connections in the NCR.
With the completion of this 2 km long tunnel between Anand Vihar and Sahibabad, the entire Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS route has now been tunneled. In the presence of the NCRTC’s Directors and other top officials, Vinay Kumar Singh, MD, NCRTC, initiated the breakthrough by pressing the remote.
The Sudarshan 4.4 was launched from the Anand Vihar launching shaft and is now being retrieved from the Vaishali retrieving shaft. The entire tunneling project was finished in less than 18 months. Seven (7) cutting-edge Sudarshan Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) bore the 12 km long parallel tunnels of the country’s first RRTS corridor’s underground portion.
The remaining 70 km of the corridor is raised, with approximately 80% of the viaduct built.
