The regional workshop on “acts, rules, and the implementation of schemes” is being held in Agartala by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in partnership with the Tripura government. On Friday, Tripura CM Saha opened the workshop.

“I’m glad that this kind of workshop is being organised in Tripura,” said Saha while addressing the inaugural event.
Tripura CM also highlighted the government’s measures on the implementation of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 under the social justice and empowerment department from 2008 on.
“We are providing shelters to the needy and homeless senior citizens, and old-age home facilities are also being run in the state for their assistance,” he said.

Saha also emphasised the government’s initiatives for welfare programmes and skill development for the state’s farmers, adding that the state’s residents, including farmers, are receiving adequate financial support.

Participants in the workshop are also coming from places like Ladakh, Chandigarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, and Meghalaya.
