As I stepped into the lush grounds of Aalia Jungle Retreat & Spa, in Haridwar, I knew I was going to have a hearty experience. The drops of rain, gentle breeze, and soothing sounds of nature immediately washed away my city-weary worries. I had been craving a break from the chaos, and it was my birthday week too, and so this tranquil oasis promised to deliver!
After a smooth 3 hour drive from Delhi and a quick checkin, I went to my luxurious tented accommodation which was super cool, earthy, and rustic ! The spacious interior, forest-inspired furnishings, and plush bedding made me feel like I was glamping in style. I spent hours lounging on the comfortable couch, watching the trees sway outside my window, and listening to the patter of rain and chatter of the birds!
Highlight of my stay has to be Aalia Jungle Retreat & Spa’s exceptional hospitality. From the welcoming smiles to the thoughtful gestures, the staff this Claridges Collection went above and beyond to make me feel at home. Whether it was arranging a guided nature walk or whipping up a customized meal and cake for my birthday, they were always eager to please.
Speaking of food, the chef’s creations were homely yet flavourful! For lunch, I savoured their kathi rolls which were both juicy and yum. Their oyster mushroom white sauce pasta and fish & chips were just as good and went perfectly with my drinks! And oh, the chilly paneer was so good that I am salivating as I write this! The paneer and all dairy products are sourced and produced in-grown by Aalia at their stable and farm. For dinner, I feasted on their dahi kebab and chilly toast, which made for perfect starters! I also sipped on minestrone and shorba to get some warmth amidst the cool Uttarakhand weather. Dal makhni and paneer khurchan made for a hearty, warm, homely meal with rice and tandoori roti. Breakfast was all about fresh bakery basket, omelette, paranthas, dosa and idli!
The open-air swimming pool was another highlight, surrounded by lush greenery and offering breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and trees. I spent my mornings soaking up the occasional sun, cooling off with a refreshing dip, and simply enjoying the serenity. Another refreshing part of the trip has to be Aalia’s Swedish massage at the spa. The skilled therapist worked her magic to relieve me of my stiff back and neck pain. The oil was warm – just how I like it – leaving me feeling relaxed and sans any stress!
Aalia Jungle Retreat & Spa was the perfect luxury getaway and an experience that nourished my soul and helped me detox. If you’re seeking serenity, comfort, and adventure, this hidden gem is waiting to welcome you.
