A tragic accident in Tamil Nadu’s Dharmapuri district has claimed the lives of four people and left eight others injured. The incident unfolded in a matter of seconds on the Thoppur Ghat, leaving behind a scene of devastation.

CCTV footage from the area captured the harrowing sequence of events. The visuals show a speeding truck colliding with another truck, setting off a chain reaction. The impacted truck veers out of control, crashing into another truck while trapping a car between the two vehicles.

The collision resulted in the immediate destruction of the car, while the truck crashed into the railing and overturned off the bridge. The severity of the accident is evident from the footage, portraying the sudden and catastrophic nature of the event.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed profound sorrow over the tragedy and promptly announced financial aid for the affected families. He sanctioned compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those receiving treatment for their injuries.

Emergency response teams, including the fire brigade and other rescue services, quickly mobilized to the scene to provide assistance. Additional videos from the site depict smoke rising as the engulfed vehicles, including all three trucks, caught fire.

Dharmapuri MP and DMK leader have urged the central government to expedite work on the elevated National Highway to mitigate the risk of such accidents in the future.
