US President Donald Trump had a meeting with Finnish President Alexander Stubb on Saturday to exchange views on building bilateral ties, including the US plan to purchase icebreakers, a move geared towards improving international security.

On Truth Social, Trump pointed out the significance of the cooperation, saying, “President Stubb and I look forward to making the relationship between the United States and Finland stronger, and that includes the purchase and building of a lot of badly needed icebreakers for the US, bringing peace and global security to our nations and the world.”

Meanwhile, the office of the Finnish president confirmed Stubb’s meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida, calling the encounter informal. The meeting is a sign of increased cooperation between the two countries, especially in Arctic operations and security.
