In a significant speech to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi articulated India’s firm position on terrorism and national security. Addressing amidst the ongoing Operation Sindoor, during which there was extensive military action against terrorists, PM Modi reiterated India’s determination to tackle terrorism on its terms.

His speech rang loud with a definitive message: India will not countenance terrorism, and nuclear blackmail will invite severe consequences.

“PoK and Terrorism Talk Only”

In his speech, PM Modi made it clear that India will firmly control its policy towards Pakistan and terrorism based on the standards of justice and sovereignty.

He said, “Terror and talk cannot go together. Terror and trade cannot go together, and water and blood cannot be flown together.” These strong words reflect India’s firm belief that terrorism cannot link with diplomatic negotiations or trade relations.

“If there will be talks between India and Pakistan, it will only be on terrorism and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK)…India’s stand has been clear, terror, trade and talks cannot be done together,” PM said.

He reiterated that any future talks with Pakistan will be only on terrorism and the question of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Modi’s statement confirms India’s resistance to making peace with terrorism in any peace process.

Strengthening the Armed Forces

PM Modi also issued a bold statement regarding the Indian Armed Forces, stating, “We have given full freedom to the Indian army to wipe out the terrorists.” This was an open message of India’s unshakeable determination to eliminate terror at its source.

He also drove home the point by citing the symbolic significance of the “Sindoor,” declaring, “Every terrorist, every terror group now knows what the price is of erasing the sindoor from the foreheads of our sisters, daughters.” Modi’s message speaks of a firm, resolute strategy to confront terrorism, with the Indian armed forces accorded the freedom to act as and when required.

A Clear, Uncompromising Stand

Prime Minister Modi’s address to the nation was, in fact, a reminder that India is no longer willing to entertain any form of nuclear blackmail or engage in negotiations that involve terror. Moreover, by empowering the military and maintaining a firm stance on talks with Pakistan, India has, therefore, set a clear precedent for its future approach.

The country’s response to terrorism and its approach to national security have shifted to one of resolute action and strategic clarity.
