Hours following the announcement of a ceasefire by India and Pakistan, Srinagar and Udhampur were again targeted by drones. The attack was just moments after Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif, in an X post, commended the ceasefire agreement and thanked Donald Trump for his assistance.
Pakistan PM Thanks Trump and US Officials
“Pakistan appreciates the United States for facilitating this outcome, which we have accepted in the interest of regional peace and stability.
“We also thank Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for their valuable contributions for peace in South Asia.
“Pakistan believes this marks a new beginning in the resolution of issues that have plagued the region and prevented its journey toward peace, prosperity and stability”, he added.
We thank President Trump for his leadership and proactive role for peace in the region .

Ceasefire Breach Reported in Barmer and Baramulla
But a few minutes ago, Pakistan had breached the ceasefire with shelling and drone attacks in several border districts, including Rajasthan’s Barmer and Jammu and Kashmir’s baramulla.
Hitting X, even Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah responded to the development and his post was aptly representative of the breach.
He wrote, “This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up.”
In another tweet, he stated, “What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!!”
Ceasefire Followed Rising Tensions Post-Pahalgam Attack
Hours before, US President Donald Trump had announced the India-Pakistan ceasefire. Hostilities between the two nations have escalated following the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians on April 22. The Resistance Front (TRF), a Lashkar-e-Taiba franchise, claimed responsibility for the attack.
DGMOs of Both Nations Finalised Ceasefire Terms
Also prior to the violation, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told the media that the Pakistan DGMO had arranged the ceasefire on Saturday afternoon, by telephoning his Indian counterpart. “Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) called Indian DGMO at 15:35 hours earlier this afternoon. It was agreed between them that both sides will cease all firing and military action on land and in the air and sea with effect from 1700 hours Indian Standard Time,” he stated.
