In the wake of increased tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack, senior Pakistani officials have made incendiary statements that pointed towards India, raising concerns about a surge in unrest in the region.
Mohammad Faisal Threatens More Violence
While talking to BBC Urdu on Sunday, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Mohammad Faisal, made an indirect threat by associating the unsettled Kashmir dispute with future violence.
“Pakistan firmly stands with the Kashmiri people and their aspirations,” Faisal said, cautioning, “This issue must be resolved—otherwise, even after Pahalgam, something else can happen.”

Faisal blamed India for not backing attempts to deal with the “actual demands and aspirations” of the Kashmiri people. He echoed Islamabad’s call for an “independent probe” into the Pahalgam terror attack, despite a claim of responsibility by Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistani-based terror organization.
Ambassador to Russia Threatens Nuclear Retaliation
Faisal is not alone in warning against the use of force. Recently, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Muhammad Khalid Jamali, threatened in even stronger language. Appearing on the Russian media channel RT, Jamali suggested that India was getting ready to attack specific parts of Pakistan based on an unsubstantiated “leaked document.”
Jamali charged, “The frenzied media of India and the irresponsible statements coming out from that side have compelled us. There are some other leaked documents it has decided to strike some areas of Pakistan. So, that makes us feel that this is going to happen and it’s imminent.”

He went on to say, “When it comes to India and Pakistan, we don’t want to get involved in this debate of numerical strength. We will use the full spectrum of power – both conventional and nuclear.”
The ambassador asserted that Pakistan’s army, with popular support, would retaliate in a decisive manner. “A a full spectrum of power,” he repeated, would be employed if India launched any kind of military action.
Pahalgam Attack Sparks Diplomatic Flare-Up
Tensions have escalated after 26 civilians were killed in the Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir. Investigations uncovered the role of two Pakistani nationals. In response, India increased security measures and called out Pakistan, prompting aggressive reactions from Islamabad’s officials and military.
The Pakistani military has also been reportedly violating the ceasefire pact at the Line of Control several times since the attack, further straining cross-border relations.
