Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi paid his last respects to Lt. Vinay Narwal at Delhi airport. The young officer was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack while on honeymoon. His body will be taken to his hometown Karnal, Haryana.

Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi offered tributes to Lieutenant Vinay Narwal by placing a wreath on his mortal remains at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Lieutenant Narwal, aged 26, was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack during his honeymoon in Kashmir. His mortal remains will be brought to his native village of Uncha Gaon near Karnal, Haryana.

A Promising Life Cut Short

Lieutenant Vinay Narwal was known for his intelligence, humility, and unwavering patriotism. Born in Uncha Gaon, Haryana, he embodied the spirit of service with strong values and an unshakable commitment to the nation. Despite his brief naval career, he stood out for his sharp mind and dedication to duty.

He shone in exercises in naval training and tactical strategies, always impressing his commanders. Although never formally deployed for Kashmir-based operations, he constantly volunteered for perilous tasks. His colleagues always talked about him being willing to come forward, regardless of the odds.

Top officers perceived tremendous potential in Vinay. He took up several inter-service courses to equip himself for forward deployment and counter-insurgency postings. Sources indicated that he was being shortlisted for strategic naval postings—a reflection of his rising stature in the force.

Vinay Narwal: Legacy of Courage and Sacrifice

Lieutenant Narwal’s death, although not on the battlefield, is a harsh reminder of the unpredictable risks security personnel take, even when off duty. His sense of responsibility went far beyond the battlefield.

His sacrifice is heartbreaking and inspiring. Lt. Narwal will be remembered not only for how he died, but for how he lived—with courage, commitment, and honor.

Adm Dinesh K Tripathi, #CNS, and the Entire Indian Navy Personnel are shocked and deeply saddened by the horrific loss of Lt Vinay Narwal, who died in the dastardly terror strike at Pahalgam. We offer our deepest condolences to his family in this hour of unimaginable sorrow,” the Navy wrote on X.
