In the wake of India’s powerful missile strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under Operation Sindoor, authorities in Kashmir have ramped up surveillance and emergency preparedness by establishing 24×7 control rooms across the Valley.
According to officials, centralized control centres have been activated in all 10 districts of Kashmir to monitor ground situations, ensure swift coordination between departments, and offer real-time public assistance. The move comes amid concerns of possible retaliation or unrest following India’s precision strikes on key terror infrastructure, including the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) base in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s (LeT) hub in Muridke.
“In view of the prevailing situation, a Joint Control Room is established at the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC), Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar under the overall supervision of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Srinagar,” read the order issued by the Srinagar District Magistrate.
24×7 Emergency Monitoring & Public Assistance
Officials said the control rooms will operate around the clock and serve as focal points for tracking developments, coordinating emergency services, and resolving public grievances without delay.
“It shall also act as a grievance redressal platform for the general public, enabling efficient resolution of issues arising in real time,” the order stated.
Citizens can contact these control rooms for updates, assistance, and to report emergencies. In addition, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has directed all departments to refrain from approving leave for staff unless under exceptional circumstances, ensuring full manpower is available in case of emergencies.
Inside Operation Sindoor: Strikes on Key Terror Camps
The heightened alert in Kashmir follows India’s precise strikes early Wednesday on nine terror sites in Pakistan and PoK, in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
Among the major targets was Markaz Taiba, LeT’s nerve centre in Muridke. A senior military official confirmed that this site had trained operatives including Ajmal Kasab, the lone captured terrorist from the 26/11 Mumbai attack.
Under Operation Sindoor, Indian forces also targeted Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur—JeM’s key base for indoctrination and operational command—along with Hizbul Mujahideen’s Mehmoona Joya facility in Sialkot, LeT’s Markaz Ahle Hadith in Barnala, and a camp in Muzaffarabad’s Shawai Nalla, according to military sources.
As the situation remains tense, the Indian Army and local authorities continue to maintain a state of high alert across the region.
