Indian-Origin CEO Anjali Sud Joins Harvard Board After Mark Carney Steps Down

The Indian-American community continues to make its mark on international institutions. Two highly qualified professionals, Sanjay Seth and Anjali Sud, have been elected to important leadership roles at Harvard University.

Anjali Sud Joins Harvard Board of Overseers

Harvard University has appointed Anjali Sud, CEO of streaming service Tubi, to its Board of Overseers, one of its two highest governing bodies. She will fill the remaining two years of Mark Carney’s term after he resigned as the Governor of the Bank of Canada in March.

Sud’s win showcases her remarkable leadership path. Born to Punjabi immigrant parents in Detroit in 1983, she graduated from Harvard Business School with an MBA in 2011. She has worked in senior positions at Amazon, Time Warner, and Vimeo over the years. At present, she heads the board at Change.org and serves on the board of Dolby Laboratories. She is also a member of the executive committee at Phillips Academy Andover, where she assists with financial aid initiatives.

The Board of Overseers governs the visitation procedure at Harvard, making independent evaluations of the university’s schools and departments. Sud’s membership on the board will help extend Harvard’s aim for academic excellence and institutional responsibility.

Sanjay Seth Elected to Harvard Alumni Association Board

In addition to Sud, Harvard alumni have elected Sanjay Seth, a renowned climate and sustainability expert, as one of the Harvard Alumni Association’s (HAA) new directors. Seth, a double Harvard graduate in urban planning and public administration, has served in major environmental policy roles. He is a former Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor for Climate and Equity with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s New England office.

Seth will take office on July 1 for his three-year term, along with five other new directors. The HAA Board fosters alumni activity and deepens Harvard’s worldwide community.

The Sud and Seth appointments are a sign of the increasing power of Indian-Americans in academia, policy, and global leadership stages.
