In a decisive yet restrained military action, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, striking nine terror-linked sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The operation was executed in response to the brutal Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen on April 22.
According to the Ministry of Defence’s official press release, the strikes targeted terrorist infrastructure from where attacks against India were planned and directed. Importantly, no Pakistani military facilities were hit, indicating India’s intent to avoid escalation and instead deliver a focused counterstrike.
“These actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature,” the official statement emphasized. “India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and method of execution.”
Nine Precision Strikes, Zero Military Escalation
The strikes were carried out early on May 7, 2025, and were confirmed by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Delhi at 1:44 AM IST. Sources familiar with the matter said nine (9) locations known to host or support terrorist operations were precisely hit. All targets were non-military in nature, aiming to eliminate terror camps and logistical support bases used by cross-border militant outfits.
Adding to the confirmation, the Indian Army’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle @adgpi posted a sharp message: “#PahalgamTerrorAttack Justice is Served. Jai Hind!”

Global Reactions and Signals of Strategic Resolve
Additionally, independent reports from across the border acknowledged the strikes. According to Sputnik India, multiple Pakistani journalists reported Indian missile strikes in Muzaffarabad, the capital of PoJK. Video clips showing explosions and nighttime panic have since surfaced online.
