New Delhi/Pune:
Speaking exclusively to NewsX on Saturday, Vishal Agarwal said the family was shattered when police informed them that Ketan’s death was not an accident but the result of an alleged pre-planned conspiracy.
Ketan died on 18 June. According to the family, they initially believed he had died after falling accidentally. However, they said police later told them that his death was being treated as murder.
“It was like losing my son all over again,” Vishal Agarwal said, describing the moment the family learnt of the alleged conspiracy. “I had accepted her as my daughter-in-law. She used to come home, meet everyone and behave well. Nobody could have imagined this.”
Ketan was engaged to Sia Goyal in February, and the wedding was scheduled to take place in November in Udaipur. The family said the match had been finalised after assurances from relatives who knew Goyal’s family.
According to Vishal Agarwal, Ketan had mentioned that Sia was often busy on calls, but the family did not suspect anything. He also said Ketan did not personally know Chetan Chaudhary, who has emerged as another accused in the case, and had only been introduced to him through Sia over WhatsApp calls.
Responding to claims that Sia allegedly did not want to marry Ketan, his father said the family had never forced the marriage. “If she did not want to marry him, she could have refused. One message or one phone call would have ended it. What was the need to kill my only son?” he said.
The grieving father said Ketan was the family’s future and questioned how his daughter would cope as Raksha Bandhan approached. “Who will she tie rakhi to now?” he asked.
The family later met senior police officials to seek updates on the investigation. Vishal Agarwal said he had faith in the police and the justice system but wanted the strictest punishment for all those involved.
“My only demand is that my son gets justice. Whoever is guilty must be punished, and they should be given the harshest punishment, including death,” he said.
